Becides art and film-making, the locality is great for waking, cycling and horse riding. In addition, go karting, micro-lite flying, rock climbing and water sports are all nearby, as well as swimming in Lac de Montbel. Guided walks on wild flowers and mushrooms are another way to get to know this part of the Ariege.
Léran hosts a Marchè gourmand every Friday evening throughout July and August.
This wonderfully convivial event is a change to savour local produce bought fresh from stall holders lining either side of banquet tables in the middle of the village. While your meat is being cooked you have time to buy wine, vegetables and bread before sitting down to enjoy your meal.
The Léran 'Castral is a weekend processions and medieval markets where the village displays all the costumes it has been busy making throughout the winter. Staged over the second weekend in August, the festivities culminate in a equestrian inspired spectacle in the grounds of the Chateau de Leran.
